Bride Wedding Speech: My Story

Hi, I’m Kat – thank you for visiting my bride wedding speech(click here) site. I finally got married to my long time partner James recently and I can honestly say that it was the best day of my life. About 6 months before the big day I decided that I wanted to write a wedding speech but I had no clue how to do it. I did some research on the internet and found some very useful information which really helped to make my wedding day such a huge success.

I’m quite a shy person really and was terrified at the thought of getting up and talking to all my guests as you can probably tell from my photo. I wanted everyone to enjoy themselves and I wanted them to remember what I said, it was very important to me that I got it right. I kept putting if off because I was really scared and then James just told me to get on with it and stop worrying about it.

So I read the information I’d downloaded from the internet a few weeks previously and I just started to write my speech. It took me just over 2 hours to finish it plus a bit more time for some editing because my writing is awful to say the least. I couldn’t believe it, I followed everything in the bride wedding speech guide and it was finally done. I was so relieved. I didn’t show it to anyone, not even James because I wanted it to be completely fresh and original which it was and it was so funny. Everyone was howling, in a good way of course and that’s exactly the reaction I wanted. I had many compliments from my guests, my mom and dad couldn’t believe that I’d have the confidence to stand up in front of everyone and actually do it but I did and I feel really great now and so does James, his cheeks are still sore from laughing so much. Anyway, like I said, I didn’t have a clue where to start but the information I found showed me exactly how to do it the right way.

  • If you are the bride, do not be ashamed to share your love story. In your bride wedding speech, start from the time when you and your husband met. If you have encountered difficulties or trials in your relationship that are worth telling, you can say it and provide insights on how you two have solved the problems. Guests will certainly be touched with the deep emotions you have felt while telling your love story with them.
  • Another tear-jerker idea for a wedding speech is for the groom to tell the crowd of how he won the heart of his bride. Guests will surely be touched over this crazy but beautiful labyrinth of love affair between the bride and the groom. It’s not particularly a sad story but the way the husband recalls their wonderful tale of courtship all the way to their engagement is just too magnificent worth crying. It’s just like watching your favorite love story movie or reading another best-seller novel.
  • For best man or maid of honor, it is also great to share with the crowd the ups and downs that their friends had to deal with while still in their boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. Reminiscing past experiences of the couple through their friend’s narration can really move the crowd to tears.

The Wedding

First a Brief History

Why do we have the speech and bride wedding toasts?

The wedding is one of life’s primeval and surprisingly unchanged rites of passage. bride speech wedding Nearly all of the customs we observe today are merely echoes of the past. Everything from the veil, rice, flowers, and old shoes, to the bridesmaids and processionals, at one time, bore a very specific and vitally significant meaning. Today, although the original substance is often lost, we incorporate old world customs into our weddings because they are traditional and ritualistic.

Old world marriage customs continue to thrive today, in diluted, disguised and often upgraded forms. Customs we memorialize today were once "brand new" ideas. Although historical accuracy is hard to achieve, the historical weight brides wedding speechattached to old world wedding customs and traditions is immense. Traditional Order of Wedding Toasts father wedding speech

In the traditional order of wedding toasts, the toast to the bride comes first. Many people believe, after all, that this is the bride’s special day. So it only makes sense that the bride is toasted first. This toast is typically made by the best man, but can also be made by a relative or friend. In recent years, the toast to the bride as been replaced by a toast to both the bride and groom.

Once the toast to the bride is complete, the groom rises to respond. The groom’s response will include words to the bride, which are often an affirmation of the first toast. The groom then thanks the best man (or whoever proposed the first toast) and also thanks the parents attending the wedding, both his and the bride’s. The groom’s response closes with a toast to the bridesmaids. bride wedding speech After the groom finishes speaking, the best man responds. The traditional response of the best man is to thank the groom on the bridesmaids’ behalf. The best man’s response can be followed by the toasts of others, including ushers or close friends. The traditional order of wedding toasts is closed out by the father of the bride. His job is to thank all of the wedding guests on behalf of him and his wife. He then announces the commencement of wedding festivities. If no the father is not present than the Mother of the Bride can choose to do a Mother of the bride wedding speech. This can be closed with an optional Bridesmaid Wedding speech, but it is up to the wedding style and the amount of time given for the wedding speeches and toasts.

  2. Groom Wedding Speech
  3. Best Man Wedding Speech
  4. Father of the Bride Wedding Speech
  5. an optional Bridesmaid Wedding Speech (Sister of the Bride Wedding Speech)

Non-traditional Order of Wedding Toasts mother of the bride wedding speech

Of course, tomorrow’s traditions are defined by those who break the traditions of today. Non-traditional wedding toasts have been more popular in recent years. The new non-traditional order tends to give the impression of greater equality among the wedding’s participants.

Non-traditional orders may start out with a toast to the couple by a master of ceremonies. This can be followed by a response from the groom that includes thanks to the MC and the wedding guests, then a toast to the bride. A non-traditional set of wedding toasts may continue with words from the bride that include thanks to the groom and a toast to her parents. This toast can also embrace the groom’s parents as well. At this point, several different things could happen, which is the beauty of non-traditional weddings. The father of the bride may propose a toast, or the master of ceremonies may introduce others who want to toast the happy couple. At some point, the toasts will end and celebration will begin.

Are you Nervous About Your Bride Wedding Speech

Its OK to be Nervous!

Remember this is your day.  Everyone is here for you and your new husband.  So who cares if you mess up a little.  So lets get to work on your wedding speech. Some call it the Bride Wedding Toasts while hear we tend to call it brides wedding speech.

Read this opening line -

Ladies and gentlemen, I have decided to keep this speech as short as I can, so at least if you don’t find it entertaining you can compliment me on its length.

This quick opening will get you going to a quick nice and thankful speech.

This video is on a stress technique that can help you to relax at any point of your wedding day.

Dealing with Nervousness

Shaky Knees

If your knees are shaky then it is a good idea to lean onto a table, but by all means don’t sit down: that is not a good way to hold a speech. By standing, all, or at least most of the visitors, will see you. By standing you show the newlyweds your respect.

Shaky Hands

If your hands are shaky then you can stop them from shaking by keeping them behind your back, holding onto something, or just leave your index card on the table where you can see it.

Be Forthright

If you are really nervous, then it is always a good idea to tell it to the guests. You could for example say, “I am sorry for my shaky voice, but this is not exactly my dream come true to stand up here in front of you all so please bear with me.”

Since most people have the same fear of public speaking, 99% of them will understand you really well. Plus, when you’re at a wedding the odds are that you know most of the people, so don’t you worry. This is your day and your wedding speech!

You will have a great bride wedding speech!
